airberlin and NIKI among the top 10 most punctual airlines

In 2014, Germany's second largest airline achieved a new punctuality record, with 85.7 percent. This confirms airberlin's ranking among the world's ten most punctual airlines in the "6th Annual Airline On-Time Performance Service Awards" of, one of the leading flight data analysis websites.

As a member of oneworld®, airberlin has contributed to the fact that the airline alliance has achieved the best punctuality of global airline alliances in's On-Time Performance Service Awards for the second time in a row in 2014. The "Airline Alliance" category was first up for grabs in 2012 and was also won by the oneworld alliance.

With 86.2 percent punctuality, NIKI achieved a top-10 place in the "Low-Cost Airlines" category in the ranking. As an innovative airline, NIKI delivers not only extremely high punctuality, but also an outstanding product with many service elements not offered by traditional low-cost carriers.

Smooth flight operations with a punctually executed schedule also have an impact on kerosene consumption. In 2014, airberlin was able to reduce its fuel consumption to 3.26 litres per 100 passenger kilometres flown, and therefore continues to be a pioneer in terms of eco-efficiency. airberlin is constantly working to further reduce its fuel consumption for the benefit of the environment and for cost efficiency, and has set itself the medium-term target of 3 litres. airberlin will continue to consistently pursue this objective in 2015, with the introduction of new lightweight seats on short and medium-haul flights, as well as the delivery of new Airbus A320 Family aircraft with fuel-saving wing tips, among other things.
