Southampton Airport looks forward to a busy Easter

Southampton Airport is gearing up for a busy Easter weekend, as it expects 35,000 passengers through its doors between 17th and 24th April. The big Easter getaway will see passengers jetting off for sunshine escapes, long weekend city breaks, end-of-season ski breaks and family get-togethers.

For serious sun seekers, popular holiday destinations such as the Costa Blanca, the Algarve and the Costa del Sol are just a short flight away. Meanwhile, this season’s favourite ski resorts in Chambery, Geneva and Grenoble have been attracting many visitors over the Easter holidays for some end-of-season ski and snow fun.

Other top Easter routes of choice for Southampton passengers include Edinburgh, Glasgow, Newcastle, Leeds, Belfast and Dublin as travellers choose to visit friends and family around the UK. The Channel Islands also feature high on the list of Southampton destinations, as passengers head off in search of spring sunshine.

Jan Halliday, Director of Marketing & Communications, said: “The long Easter weekend is a great reason to take a break and it’s always a busy time of year for us. We’re equally looking forward to welcoming visitors to Hampshire who are flying into Southampton to explore the area, join cruises or visit friends and relatives.”
