MCB reports solid performance despite pandemic

The Melbourne Convention Bureau (MCB) has outlined a solid performance in the 2019-20 financial year in its Annual Report released today, despite the disruptive effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Victoria’s lead agency for acquiring and delivering business events, secured 145 business events reinforcing the State’s reputation as Australia’s event capital. These events are expected to inject $234.3 million in economic contribution to Victoria’s visitor economy in the coming years.

Events leaders are struggling to plan for the coming months, with the constant uncertainty about how Covid-19 will shape 2021, with stress and anxiety having its own second wave in the workplace, according to neuroscientist, business psychologist and change specialist Dr Lynda Shaw.

Theresa Villiers MP to speak at major events summit 2020

The Rt Hon Theresa Villiers MP, Chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group for Events (APPG) will be speaking at the Major Events Summit, which takes place on 2nd December.
During her session Theresa will be interviewed by Sir Gerald Howarth, former MP for Aldershot and President of the British Air Display Association, on her objectives and vision for the recently re-established APPG.

HBAA announces comprehensive expanded board structure to deliver ‘HBAA future fit’ vision for members and drive industry recovery

HBAA, the association for the meetings, events and accommodation industry, has revealed its new vision and a broader executive team to drive forward and aid delivery.
The vision, launched to the membership earlier this week, is: “Driven by leaders, united by collaboration and a significant contributor to an industry which delivers £70bn* spend into the UK economy.” HBAA has further sharpened its focus and will be “spearheading representation to government and policy makers, elevating a sector voice and championing change and sustainable economic health.”
