Lion-Cachet leaves Events International Group to build innovation and investment business for the events industry

Chad Lion-Cachet has stepped down as Chief Executive of Events International Group, part of the TUI Group, after 13 years with the business. Chad left the group at the end of December 2016, with an ambition to build a new full-service business for the events industry.

Chad was the inspiration behind Sportsworld and its successful acquisition by the TUI Group. He also helped create Events International Group and built many other event production, marketing, and service brands which, at its peak combined to create a division numbering 14 businesses. Chad was also Founder and Chair of MyEvent.Vision, the industry competition created to reward and incentivise new ideas for events.

Chad leaves the company with the intention of developing an investment vehicle that will continue to provide opportunities for innovation in the event industry. “My passion has always been in the creation and development of great businesses, and I’m looking forward to starting the process again. I want to help companies find suitable investment to bring their new ideas and developments to fruition,” commented Chad. “I’m on the lookout for suitable investment opportunities in the market, but I also see a massive opportunity in the creation of a broad based, diverse and customer focussed event services brand that cuts across sport, food, fashion and culture.”

Chad has grown an exceptional reputation within the events industry through his encouragement of ideas and innovation. He was a contributor to the All Party Parliamentary Group’s enquiry into the international competitiveness of the events industry, and is a regular commentator on the industry.

“This is an industry with no shortage of ideas and continues to be one of the main reasons I love working in it. It remains undervalued and is a great platform for investment growth. The Events International Group’s success was built around the foundations of innovation and exceptional customer service. Any investment made, and any new company we build should have those same two hallmarks,” concludes Chad.

TUI Group announced its intentions to sell Event International Group’s umbrella business, Travelopia, last year.
