ATPI’s triumphant Olympic organisers look back on a successful summer of sport

Leading global travel management and events business ATPI Sports Events, part of the growing ATPI Group, is celebrating its own record-breaking Olympiad demonstrating its logistical strengths at the Games’ first South American event.

As a leading company offering official Rio 2016 packages for the Dutch market, ATPI organised over 12,000 room nights, 2,500 flights, 1,500 restaurant bookings, 200 bike rides, 60 wheelchairs, 50 coaches, 10 massage tables, plus around the clock assistance during all of the 28 days of sport.

Having had an operation in the city since 2011, the dedicated sports events, hospitality and logistics division of the Group opened its own Rio office in 2013 to ensure it could provide athletes, supporting teams, Olympic fans and corporate clients with the best possible on-site assistance this summer.

With 20 years of Olympic success under its belt, ATPI Sports Events has been involved in Summer and Winter Olympics as well as Paralympic Games packages since 1997, when it became an official partner of the Dutch National Olympic Committee and Dutch Sports Federation (NOC*NSF).

Michiel Aulbers, Group Sports Strategist, ATPI Sports Events said: “With so much coverage in the run-up to the summer Olympics highlighting the economic and health-related issues faced this year, our five years of rigorous preparation ensured we had the right systems in place to overcome any logistical challenges. Our team’s biggest priority was always to ensure the athletes were able to travel effortlessly and focus their energy on what they do best. We are thrilled to have made our own modest contribution to a hugely successful summer of sport.”

ATPI Sports Events’ long track record in managing elite sporting events ensures its expertise is regularly relied upon by sports bodies, organising committees and corporate stakeholders. Its team is currently preparing for the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang and the Tokyo 2020 Summer Olympics.

The ATPI Group has a network of over 100 offices worldwide and has successful operations in corporate travel, shipping and energy travel, sports and corporate event management.  The company is at the forefront of travel technology development including online booking, system integration and data analytics.
