EVCOM has launched EVCOM Academy, a brand new initiative focusing on practical business development skills for the events and visual communication industry. The full day of bite-sized practical training sessions has been designed to provide concentrated learning in essential skills for busy professionals.

Taking place on 9th September at CentrEd at ExCeL London and supported by Hiscox Event Assured, the Academy day will offer simple take-away tools that can be applied to enhance your professional and personal development.

Concentrating on four key topics, the first EVCOM Academy will cover:
• Procurement – your friend not your foe.   Unwrapping the core themes Procurement Departments are looking for and enabling better understanding of their priorities, as well as designing and creating effective solutions in return.  Speaker: Wendy Allerton MCIPS, TJA Consulting.
• Unpicking the Proposal Process.  How to successfully manage the proposal writing process, from initial contact through to delivery of a winning sales proposal.  Speaker: Christina Fee, Internal Communications Specialist.
• Perfecting Presentation Technique.  Providing the skills and confidence to pitch and present more effectively.  Speaker: Steve Garratt, Creative Director, The Giggle Group.
• Contracts and Brand Protection for the Creative Industries.  A full programme that will help when dealing with contracts, copyright and the law.  Speaker: Farina Azam, Head of IP, Commercial Department - Travlaw LLP.

This course is ideally suited to live events agencies, screen production companies, digital agencies, venues, destination or other industry service providers. Attendees will be able to take advantage of the opportunity to share best practice with others and will take away practical tools and skills to assist them in their day to day job.

Throughout the day, a series of specialist clinics will also be running and delegates will have the opportunity to speak one-to-one with experts in the fields of Employment Law, Regulatory issues, TOMS VAT, Insurance and CSR.

Harpreet Walia, Events Manager said: “I am delighted that we can build upon our successful events brand with this concentrated one day course of practical application. To make it easier for our busy members to access targeted training, we have combined all the key skills into one day. EVCOM Academy provides the perfect opportunity for everybody to develop valuable skills at a time when sharpening your competitive edge could make the difference between winning and losing a pitch.”
