Namuwongo milestone as first youngster heads for university

Industry charity, Events for Namuwongo, has reached an important and rewarding milestone with the news that a child supported by its ‘Walk to School’ programme has secured a place at university.
For the past five years, Events for Namuwongo has been dedicated to transforming the slum community of Namuwongo, Kampala. So far, the events industry has raised over £500,000 in support of Namuwongo and the results have been completely life changing for its residents.

Many within the industry support a child from Namuwongo to be able to go to school and this is the ultimate aim for all parents and children in the community. For one of the children previously supported by this programme to now attend university is an indicator of just how important the event industry’s support has been.

Co-founder of Events for Namuwongo and tfconnect MD, Trevor Foley, said, “The school, the community and our charity on the ground, Hope For Children, are all greatly excited by this news... and so are we!”

Foley Added, “There will be more news from Namuwongo very soon, including new ways to get involved as we continue to support the community.”
