EVCOM new Board meets for the first time

The EVCOM AGM took place on Wednesday 1st July at the Barbican in London ahead of the association’s annual conference EVCOMference in Liverpool.  The AGM saw the company name change officially to The Event and Visual Communication Association, trading as EVCOM, and the adoption of the revised Articles of Association which introduces a new Student category of membership.

Dale Parmenter, Managing Director of drpgroup handed over the Chairmanship for the next twelve months to Steve Garvey who is joined by the following who make up the new EVCOM board.  

Newly elected board members: Richard McHardy, The McHardy Collective; Kylie Mather, Travlaw; Richard Cook, World Television; Sara Cooper, Plastic Pictures; Cary Rueda, Petrofac and Steve Salam, Future and Co.  

Continuing board members: The following people continue to serve on the Board of Directors: Dale Parmenter (Immediate Past Chairman), DRP Group; Steve Garvey (Chairman); Richard Heap (co-opted), Baker Tilly; Brian Kirsch, Hiscox Event Assured; Rachel Ley, RLC Productions; Angela Law, Everysense; Heather Robinson, Heather Robinson; Andrew Smith, a-vision; Nick Terry, Top Banana and Andrew Winterburn, Ashfield Healthcare.  

Retiring board members: Sharon Bennett, CTN; Emma Cashmore, Axis Travel; Izania Downie; Steve Garratt, The Giggle Group; Paul Hussey, Conference Doctor; Barnaby Logan, Merchant Cantos; Carrie Rose and Rory Sloan, Inca Productions.  

New Chairman Steve Garvey said: “I’d like to express my gratitude to all those Board members who are stepping down, who have contributed so much to the successful establishment of EVCOM.  I’d like to express my particular thanks to Dale Parmenter who with both Eventia and IVCA has shown real leadership and commitment to our industry and personal support for EVCOM.  

EVCOM is unique.  No other association combines the live, film and experiential sectors in all its activities with the simple goal of creating business opportunities for members as corporate communications become ever more sophisticated, we aim to represent the full range of skills and services.”  

Marco Forgione, Chief Executive of EVCOM commented: “The past year has been focused on establishing EVCOM as the leading association in our industry, with 58% of the leading event agencies and 86% of the Televisual Top 50 production companies as members we have made good progress. We’ve created the platform on which we can build an even more effective association focused on helping make our members more successful.  

Over the coming year we will build EVCOM’s services in four key areas: membership, communications, education and awards, and networking. I look forward to working with the Board, members, partners and colleagues to create more opportunities in the growing events and visual communication industry."
