GTMC responds to election result

Commenting on the election result Paul Wait, Chief Executive of the GTMC says, “In their election manifesto the Conservative Party confirmed its commitment to improving transport facilities and infrastructure in a number of areas relevant to business travel.
“For aviation, a commitment to a swift response to the findings of the Davies Commission. For the railway network, support for high speed rail, action to reduce rail fares and investment in free wi-fi. For road travel, an investment in additional motorway construction.

"All of which have a critical role to play in laying solid foundations from which UK plc can increase business travel and therefore grow the economy.
“Following the news that Howard Davies is to launch a new consultation on airport expansion and the threat of a delay to next month’s report, the onus on the Conservative Party is for action and swift action at that, not only in addressing the issue of airport expansion but for all transport issues. The GTMC looks forward to working constructively with the new Government to help bring about improvements for the business traveller.”
