Hospitality professionals abseil the Orbit

Hospitality professionals ready to abseil Orbit
On the 24th April 2015, 80 hospitality professionals took the leap of faith off the ArcelorMittal Orbit in aid of The Springboard Charity.
Springboard, a charity that helps young, unemployed and those facing barriers achieve their potential and supports them into work, celebrated its 25th Anniversary on top of the ArcelorMittal Orbit.

Hospitality professionals from Hand Picked Hotels, Delaware North, The Hyatt Regency London to name a few were part of the 80 participants who took part in Springboard’s highest Abseil off UK’s tallest sculpture. This truly unique experience gave the abseiler an opportunity to take on one of the defining structures in recent Olympic history and also offered views spanning 20 miles across London.

“It was a real honour to be able to take part in this abseil, as UKinbound’s first activity in collaboration with our chosen partner charity, Springboard. My thanks go to Springboard for providing such a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, and we look forward to working with them in the future.” Felicity Archdale, UKinbound.

£13,000 was raised at the Springboard Abseil and the funds go towards the KickStart programme, which supports school and college leavers on their path to employment within the hospitality industry.

To celebrate their 25th anniversary, the charity is calling on the industry to support their vital work by adopting Springboard as their charity, taking part in an event or holding a fundraising challenge.

The charity aims to raise £250,000 during its 25th year to support existing ‘Into Work’ programmes as well as investing in new ones in order to support anyone of any age into a sustainable career within hospitality.
