Diversified UK announces important changes to its Midlands team

Award winning event organiser Diversified Communications UK has announced some important changes to its management structure, including several internal promotions.
The changes, designed to provide an even better service to its stakeholders and improve the company’s overall management structure, follow the acquisition of EXPO Management last summer and is the result of a comprehensive business review.

Effective immediately, Mark Griffin moves to the role of Chairman of Diversified Midlands, reporting to Carsten Holm, MD of Diversified UK.  Meanwhile Tony Henthorn, currently Publishing Director, takes on the broader role of Group Director of Diversified Midlands, responsible for the day to day running of the business and its products.

Mark Griffin’s role as Chairman of Diversified Midlands will see him continue to play a central role in key client engagement, with a key focus on the continued growth and development of Diversified’s brand portfolio.

Helen Conway and Pippa Allsop have also been appointed new roles for 2015.  Helen, who has been with the business for 14 years, takes over as Event Director for Euro Bus Expo and Coach & Bus Live, whilst Pippa moves from Event Manager to Operations Manager on the same portfolio.

Best of Britain & Ireland, taking place this week at the NEC Birmingham (11-12 March), will also see some important changes; including David Maguire becoming Event Director and Lloyd Jones being promoted to Sales Manager.  In addition, Caroline Bissell has joined the team as Marketing Manager.

Commenting on the news, Diversified UK’s Carsten Holm says:  “This is great news for our team and our customers.  Mark has had a lifetime career in the transport and tourism industries and has developed an enviable reputation as a leading entrepreneurial player in the publishing and exhibition industry.  In his new role, Mark will able to concentrate on maintaining and developing key relationships with key stakeholders as the figure head of the Midlands events portfolio, and to spend more time on the further development of both current and new products.  Tony has extensive experience in managing media businesses and will be a fantastic Group Director for the Midlands Division.  I am also delighted that Helen and Pippa, both hugely experienced exhibition professionals, will be moving to these important new roles.”

The operations team of Diversified Midlands has recently been nominated as a finalist for the Exhibition News industry awards taking place in London in April.  Against huge competition from other events organisers, the team have made it to the final shortlist upon the first time of entering.

“Best of Britain & Ireland also sees some exciting changes as part of this restructure,” continues Holm, “with our experienced Event Director David Maguire heading up BoBI, with the support of Caroline Bissell as Marketing Manager.  With Lloyd Jones stepping up to become Sales Manager.  It’s an impressive team who will lead the further development of the show.  We already have some great ideas for the 2015 event, which will be announced shortly.  I can’t say more now but it’s very exciting times for the event, and we look forward to building an even stronger market leading show for this crucial £125 billion sector with the industry over the coming months.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Simon Greenbury, who has played a huge role in the Best of Britain & Ireland show over the past few years, for all his support.  Simon will continue to help with the development of the show over the next few months but due to other commitments will be moving on to concentrate on his other projects at the end of June,” says Holm.

“This is a natural progression for the company and the team, as we see the full integration of our activities into the Diversified family,” adds Mark Griffin, Chairman of Diversified Midlands.  “There are some really exciting opportunities out there in our sector and we are relishing the prospect of developing them for our customers in our core markets as the economy strengthens.”

EXPO Management was acquired by the award-winning UK division of Diversified Communications in July 2014.  The company has grown rapidly in recent years and has a record of launching and acquiring market leading events.  Diversified Communications UK now employs over 80 staff and has increased its brand portfolio by 127% over the past eighteen months.
