Thailand aims for over 1m MICE visitors in 2015

It claims to be ‘the world’s business events Paradise’

The Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) claims that Thailand is ‘Asia’s leading business events hub’ and is embarking on a campaign to maintain this position. Under the title Thailand Connect, it is emphasising three fundamental pillars of its MICE industry.

It names these as:
1. ‘Destinations of Thailand: Your modern metropolis, the world’s business events Paradise’;
2. ‘Business in Thailand: Your borderless business potential, the world’s biggest market of opportunities’;
3. ‘People of Thailand: Your Success with Proficient Professionals’.

The target is more than a million visitors for events in 2015, adding over £2.13bn or 2.67bn Euros.

In the first three quarters of 2014, the number of UK business events travellers to Thailand rose 84% to 15,262, with revenues up 108% to £31m or 38.79m Euros. The number of European mainland business events travellers to Thailand rose by 5% to reach 83,157, with revenues up by 8% to £156.7m or 195m Euros.

Mrs. Supawan Teerarat, V-P Strategic and Business Development of TCEB says that, ‘The strategic direction to promote Thailand’s MICE industry is in response to government policy of reinforcing international confidence in Thailand and especially boosting the vibrancy of the country’s MICE industry, which helps to connect business events to global success.’
