Delegates in Staffordshire are the first to complete new Welcome to Excellence Successful Selling Course

As part of Welcome to Excellence’s ongoing support to Destination Staffordshire, the region’s Destination Management Organisation (DMO), 16 delegates from the area were invited to be the first to attend its new sales training programme. Successful Selling, devised and delivered by Welcome to Excellence, the UK’s largest provider of customer service training courses, is a highly practical one-day training programme using varied techniques to enable participants to harness the sales potential of their business, turning leads into loyal ambassadors.

This course is a new addition to a package of business support and training available to tourism businesses in Staffordshire and heavily subsidised by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).

Training took place at the National Memorial Arboretum in October and was attended by staff from some of the county’s top tourism and visitor destinations, including Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, Visit Lichfield, The Trentham Estate and the National Memorial Arboretum. These organisations are well known active ambassadors for the region and were invited to be the first to sample the course to enhance their individual site sales as well as boost tourism revenue in general for the area.

The training package is delivered on behalf of Destination Staffordshire by Tourism South East. Sue Gill, Training Services Director says: 'We are pleased that Destination Staffordshire was the first to grab the opportunity to run this new and innovative course. Tourism businesses in the County area very lucky as it forms part of an overall package of business support and training that is heavily subsidised by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).’

Commenting on the course, its delivery and success, Beverley Summers from the National Memorial Arboretum says: ”The course met and exceeded my expectations. It made me more aware of how important my approach to sales is.”

Gill Welch, also from the National Memorial Arboretum says: “I really enjoyed the course and the networking, listening to other companies and hearing about their different selling techniques.

Emily Robinson from Lichfield District Council adds: ”The course has made me feel less nervous about completing a sale!”
