Austravel launches first of its kind weekend city break deal to Australia

Bank holidays are the perfect excuse to get away and take full advantage of that extra day off – a road trip to the British coast, a ferry to France or a mini break to… Australia. Despite being over 9,000 miles away, leading Australasia specialist, Austravel has launched the first bank holiday package down under. The package, departing Friday, means you can take in Australia's sights and delights, but still be back at your desk Tuesday morning.

The whistlestop tour of the land down under starts at just £1,095 per person and includes return flights, a four star hotel in the heart of Sydney, overnight three star accommodation in Melbourne and three days car hire.

The Sydney to Melbourne package departs from London Heathrow on Friday afternoon, arriving in Sydney on Saturday evening, allowing holidaygoers to pack in a night and a morning in Sydney with the chance to see all the city has to offer including the famous Harbour Bridge, Opera House and Sydney Tower. The next day travellers can hit the open road and share the driving on a beautiful coastal journey to Melbourne, spending a night and morning in Australia's cosmopolitan city before flying back to the UK and arriving 0640 Tuesday morning – just in time for work.

For travellers who see sleeping as cheating, then there is an option to purchase bolt ons to the package which include experiences such as the Great Ocean Road, Phillip Island, Yarra Valley or a trip to Torquay – one of the first towns of Australia.

Austravel’s Naomi Moreno-Melgar comments: "Travelling to Australia for the bank holiday weekend may seem a little extreme, but is in fact do-able.. The unique package flies into Sydney and departs from Melbourne allowing hardcore holidaygoers to visit  two wonderful Australian cities in just a matter of days.

“This first of its kind holiday package highlights that a trip to the land down under does not need take up all of your holiday allowance, but  with four time zones, three million square miles and 22 million people, it would be nice!"

Austravel recently launched the Two Week Walkabout campaign with Tourism Australia which aims to dispel the myth that a trip to Australia requires several months to see all the country has to offer, from Bondi Beach, Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Gold Coast to name a few.

Austravel has over 35 years of experience in creating bespoke holiday packages that really showcase the superb diversity and attractions of Australia, New Zealand and the South Pacific which can be enjoyed in just 14 days.
