Grass Roots Meetings & Events joins company-wide apprenticeship scheme

The Meetings & Events division of Grass Roots has confirmed that it is participating in a Group wide scheme to recruit the next wave of apprentices into the business. The apprenticeship scheme was launched in 2011 across offices in Tring and Wendover and so far has resulted in twelve new recruits.

All twelve are still with the company, most in full time, permanent positions ranging from Account Executives to Developers. This year will be the first time that the Meetings & Events division has participated in the scheme, through the creation of a place at its office in Putney.

The scheme is targeted at school leavers who have decided they are ready to get straight into the world of work, rather than continue with further education. The successful candidate in Putney will join as a Junior Conference and Event Administrator and will enter a two year structured programme of ‘on the job’ training, supplemented with specific courses, covering customer service, time management, negotiation skills and contract checking. The attractive employment package includes a competitive starting salary, 25 days paid holiday and the chance to participate in an extensive voluntary benefits scheme with a host of options including tax-free bikes for work and discounts on computer products.

Grass Roots Meetings & Events Divisional Director, Director Des Mclaughlin, expressed his enthusiasm for the apprenticeship programme: “We all know how tough it is for school leavers to get their first foot on the career ladder. We are not only helping an individual achieve that, but promising to invest in them and develop their skills.”
