Should Prince Harry be Certified?

The UK & Ireland Chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) has invited Prince Harry to accept a honorary lifetime membership as a means to encourage His Royal Highness to support their quest in creating many more Certified Meeting Professionals (CMPs).

Miguel Neves, President - MPI UK & Ireland commented: “The meetings industry has called for a seat at the board room table and we feel that this is an important step in that direction. Certification is a mark of quality that all professionals regardless of any industry sector should seek; meeting and event professionals are no different. With Prince Harry’s new event-related role in the army, we feel that it is important for a much-loved royal to set an example and in doing so, help the industry progress.”

Liz Rice, VP Certification - MPI UK & Ireland commented: “The CMP programme is applicable to a wide range of meeting and event professionals. The international recognition of the programme will greatly benefit those dealing with incoming events, particularly events from North America where the certification is widely recognised. We also expect to see those certified to receive a higher level of professional recognition within their organisations leading to enhanced career prospects.”

MPI UK & Ireland is in the process of activating various activities to support the successful delivery of education supporting the CMP programme. This internationally recognised certification programme is managed by the Conventions Industry Council, a US based organisation that has 33 member organisations all of which linked in some way to meetings and events. Earning the CMP certification means that individuals have achieved the industry’s highest standards, having demonstrated their experiences in the sector and passed a rigorous exam.
