Research* carried out by Incite on behalf of Filmbank last year, with 1,000 leisure and business travelers,  revealed that 9 out of 10 guests watch TV in their hotel room. With 70% spending an average of 2-5 hours of spare time awake in their rooms; guests desire in-room entertainment available in hotels to help fill their time.

Majella Griffin, Filmbank general manager, says: “We supply movies to many hotels. This includes the big chains right through to independent operators, and this isn’t just in bedrooms. Increasingly, hotels are purchasing a licence, to create ‘pop up’ cinemas and make use of empty conference and public spaces at weekends. When combined with an F&B offer, this can generate additional revenue to hotels during weekends and school holidays.”

Filmbank also works with hotels to provide movie trailers, imagery, posters, and marketing material to support the films on offer. These are instantly recognisable to guests and be publicised through hotel websites, guest communications and loyalty schemes.

In 2013, Filmbank catered to the entertainment needs of multiple audiences in hotel rooms, offering a broad selection of action, animation, adventure, drama and fantasy, including The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Monsters University, Life of Pi, Lincoln, Iron Man 3, Argo, Man of Steel, Django Unchained, Smurfs 2, Oz The Great and the Powerful, Rust and Bone, The Great Gatsby and Skyfall.
