dmg events acquires Quartz Coatings events and journals

dmg events, the wholly-owned subsidiary of the Daily Mail and General Trust plc (DMGT), an international portfolio of digital, information, media and events businesses, has acquired Quartz Coatings Ltd a company that specializes in paint and coatings exhibitions and publications around the world.

Quartz Coatings Ltd owns and organizes five international coatings events, in Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Mexico, and Morocco, and publishes two industry-leading titles, the monthly Polymers Paint & Colour Journal and the bi-monthly Asia Pacific Coatings Journal. Quartz Coatings Ltd also manages the Middle East’s largest paints and coatings event, the Middle East Coatings Show on behalf of dmg events.

The acquisition provides dmg events with a consolidated position in the international coatings market and will provide a strong platform to grow the events and operations in key emerging markets, maximizing synergies across the shows and with dmg’s existing construction portfolio.

Geoff Dickinson, CEO of dmg events said ‘The Coatings sector is a fast growing specialist market that complements our Big 5 Construction events.

This acquisition allows us to maximize the development of our existing Middle East Coatings events and is in line with our desire to build our presence in the ASEAN and Latin American markets through geo-cloning and a series of strategic acquisitions.

I am excited to be working with Ian Faux and his team and look forward to developing our Coatings portfolio and associated activities in the coming years.’

Paul Michael, CEO of Quartz Business Media and Quartz Chemicals added: ‘Quartz Coatings is a tremendous fit for dmg who are in an excellent position to take forward and develop the products.

We are delighted that the staff will remain in Redhill so there will be little upheaval, whilst we look forward to focusing on the continued growth and success of Quartz Business Media and Quartz Chemicals and their respective specialist events and publications.’
