Gstaad rides the wave of Instagram

Forward thinking Gstaad is yet again proving to be a pioneering tourist destination by being the first Alpine resort to fully embrace one of the most popular social media channels, Instagram.  In association with Saanewald Lodge, and in collaboration with the worldwide community Instagramers, Gstaad will launch a communication project entitled “The Gstaad Slow Life Experience”.

From 7th to 9th of February,  eight influential Instagramers have been invited to Gstaad in order to capture their view of the region’s incredible beauty and share it globally.  Thanks to “The Gstaad Slow Life Experience” the three partners will reach nearly two million followers.

Part of this project is a public “Instameet” on Sunday 9th of February.  This will take the format of a ‘photowalk’ in the snow and be open to all who want to post their pictures of the Gstaad’s winter wonderland on Instagram.

For Paul Peyer, owner of Saanewald Lodge, this collaboration has huge significance.  “Instagram is the aesthetic social network of excellence. That was enough for us to make a link and aim at giving visibility both to the region and to our lodge through an Instagram denominated event. The ‘Slow Life’ concept is a core value in Gstaad's culture and traditions and it is as well at the centre of the Saanewald Lodge philosophy.”

Gstaad’s PR Manager Kerstin Sonnekalb adds “Gstaad Tourism is happy to have with the Saanewald Lodge an innovative and creative partner who took the initiative of the project, and also to welcome the Instagramers network to Gstaad. With this project Gstaad will prove once again its pioneer spirit even after 100 years of Alpine tourism.”

Phil Gonzalez, founder of Instagramers, says: “Instagramers love to discover new places, take pictures and spread them all over the world through Instagram. Gstaad will be the perfect place to produce a great quality of mobile phone photography.”
