Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre hosts baking master class for the underprivileged

It was a wish come true for 85 residents of Rumah Titian Kaseh when an eight-member team from the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (the Centre) held a baking master class for them. The residents had highlighted their wish to learn baking and how best to put the home’s cooking equipment to good use during the Centre’s visit last year.

Led by Head Pastry Chef Jamaluddin Zainal Abidin and four other chefs from the Centre’s 51-strong culinary team conducted a baking master class on three of the Centre’s favourite recipies – chololate chip cookies, cornflake cookies and bread and butter pudding ensued to the residents’ delight.

“As the Ramadhan month is coming, this was a perfect opportunity to try out new cookie recipes and a pleasure for the team to be able to reach out to the less privileged and share our mutual love of baking. Hopefully we have made a difference; the residents can use what they have learnt to bake goodies for everyone at the home and maybe even generate income from selling their homemade efforts,” said Chef Jamaluddin.

The Rumah Titian Kaseh baking master class was organised by the Centre’s Human Resource department.

Located in Titiwangsa, Rumah Titian Kaseh is home to 85 residents comprising children, single mothers and the elderly to the physically-handicapped.
