Norfolk’s Beer of the Year hosts summer festival this 23 JuneNorfolk’s leading micro-brewery - Grain, is hosting its annual free Summer Festival on Saturday 23 June 2012, within the scenic grounds of its home at South Farm, in the Waveney Valley area of Norfolk.
The vintage-themed fair, which will have a ‘Darling Buds of May’ feel, will offer beer-lovers a fun day of family entertainment. This year marks the third year running for the event.
The brewhouse will be turned into a bar, stocking all of Grain’s nine real ale varieties. Festival-goers will also enjoy local folk band ‘Gipsy’ plus guests, traditionally-made gourmet ice-creams from Waveney Ices, barbeque, vintage fete games, and brewery tours on request. A small exhibition of watercolours by the farm owner will also be on display for visitors to view.
Also back by popular demand this year will be the Golden Star Morris dancers, entertaining the crowds in true merrymaking form.
As CAMRA Norfolk’s Beer of the Year, Grain also sees the importance of buying local. The Summer Festival will offer the chance for local producers to come together on one day, to showcase their produce. One such producer present will be Jimmy Denny, selling burgers and sausages, made with Norfolk-bred, local lambs fed on Grain’s leftover malt.
A vintage 1950’s Bristol coach will be bringing regulars from The Plough – Grain’s own public house in Norwich, so they can see where their beer comes from.
Grain’s Joint Founder Phil Halls says: “We are again looking forward to our Summer Festival this year, which will be bigger and better than ever. We have a great group of local fans, and by hosting a festival we can all celebrate together.”
The festival is free to attend and lasts from 2pm to 10pm on Saturday 23 June 2012, with activities throughout the day. For more information on Grain Brewery, please visit www.grainbrewery.co.uk
