Chelsea Football Club wins GDS International Conference
Following the installation of a high-speed internet service, Chelsea Football Club will play host to iStrategy London, the UK’s premier digital marketing conference organised by leading events firm GDS International.Taking place on 22-23 May, iStrategy will focus on developing integrated digital marketing strategies, with up to 500 delegates representing major UK and international brands and agencies.
The two day conference will include a number of keynote speaker sessions and an exhibition area in Chelsea FC’s 1,400m2 Great Hall, with interactive workshops, masterclasses and networking set up in four syndicate spaces in the club’s West Stand. A drinks reception will take place on the first evening with accommodation for delegates provided in the venue’s two onsite hotels.
The event will incorporate a live social media experience, encouraging all delegates to report live on the conference through an active Twitter feed, blogging, Facebook posts and LinkedIn discussions. As such, Chelsea’s newly installed high speed internet line, which offers up to 200MB through a dedicated high speed line, coupled with the flexibility of its event spaces, was the main factor in winning the business.
Simon Hunter, Head of Venue and Brand at Chelsea FC, comments: “We are delighted to be hosting this conference, one of the first to use our new state of the art high-speed internet connection. This service allows multiple connections so is perfect for events like this where social media is an important part of the delegate experience. We feel this further enhances our status as London’s most complete venue, offering a range of event spaces, excellent service and the technology to match”.
Richard Stirk, GDS International's Vice President of Conferences commented: "We chose Chelsea FC due to the fact that the venue offers a modern event space in a great location that meets our high-tech requirements. Our delegation has been described as ‘an audience of audiences’ due to their huge online influence. We regularly trend on Twitter and over the course of a conference our hashtag reaches about four million people per day on Twitter alone, so it's vital that we choose venues with high-speed internet access".
iStrategy attendees will include CEOs, business owners, entrepreneurs and creative directors across digital, media, marketing and social media industries.
The venue’s internet service includes a 200MB line dedicated to guests which is distributed throughout the West Stand using 103 access points. This guarantees 750 connections in the Great Hall and up to 100 connections in each of the functions rooms on the second and fourth floors.
