GTMC announces further conference speakers 'Drivers of Change'
The GTMC has announced its most high profile ever line-up of conference speakers for its 2012 overseas conference, being held in Doha (11th-13th May). For the first time 50% of the speakers and panelists taking part in the two-day business programme will be from outside the travel management sector. With a theme of ‘Drivers of Change’, the conference will see keynote addresses by Qatar Airways CEO, Akbar Al Baker; Gatwick Airport CEO Guy Stephenson; Google Head of Online Travel, Scott Field and Deloitte’s partner Graham Pickett, head of travel, hospitality and leisure.
Other sessions will include Tim Mongomerie, founder and editor of the political website conservativehome.com, which represents UK grassroots Conservative opinion, discussing political drivers of change. LinkedIn’s travel category director Laurie Kirschner and Simon Ferguson, managing director, Travelport UK will join Google’s Scott Field for a technology debate and three other sessions will focus on drivers of change for travel buyers, the business traveller of tomorrow and sustainability, ensuring every factor impacting change in the sector will be addressed.
GTMC chief executive Anne Godfrey said: “This year’s conference promises to be our best yet. We want to ensure that delegates get the right mix of speakers, presentations and ideas from within and beyond our sector and the theme Drivers of Change allows each session to focus on what is impacting every facet of our industry and what we can and should be doing about it.”
She continued: “This year we have speakers from Barclays Corporate Finance, Field Fisher Waterhouse, Google, LinkedIn and Deloitte as well as a presence from ACTE and ITM. These speakers, coupled with the fact that a third of our delegates are ‘first timers’, illustrates how prestigious attendance at the GTMC overseas conference has become.”
The 2012 GTMC conference will take place between 11 - 13 May in Qatar at the W Hotel & Residences, Doha, with Qatar Airways as the partner airline. Qatar Airways’ chief executive officer, Mr Akbar al Baker, will deliver the conference’s opening keynote address titles ‘The New Drivers of Change’.
