Franks will host exclusive Women 1st event at B.Hive on May 16, 2012

Successful businesswoman, broadcaster and speaker, Lynne Franks today called on employers in the hospitality, passenger transport, travel and tourism industry to take action to bridge the gender gap at senior management level positions. Urging businesses to support the Women 1st initiative, the only programme for the hospitality industry designed to help women achieve their career aspirations, Franks will host an exclusive event to help women in this vibrant industry meet and network. The event will take place on 16th May at the B.Hive business lounge in Covent Garden.

Lynne Franks says: “Whilst the majority of the workforce in the hospitality and travel industry is female, only 6% of senior director level positions are held by women. That’s half the national average and it is vital for employers in the sector to take steps to help women climb the career ladder effectively. I have been very impressed by the decisive steps taken by Women 1st to address this disparity and therefore delighted to host this event at B.Hive’s flagship venue.”

Women 1st is the thought leadership, training and mentoring programme developed by sector skills council People 1st. The initiative has supported over 700 women with tailored training and mentoring since its inception in 2009. The inaugural Women 1st Conference 2012 will take place on 19th June at the Jumeirah Carlton Tower in Knightsbridge, London.

Sharon Glancy, champion of Women 1st said: “I would like to thank Lynne Franks for her support and for hosting this important event. Networking opportunities such as these are designed to inspire and encourage women to accomplish their own career aspirations in our vibrant industry. We look forward to seeing you there.”

The B.Hive is a collection of stylish women’s business lounges and hubs in London, Bristol and Manchester.
