Britain's got talent takes over the International Convention Centre Birmingham
The International Convention Centre (ICC) in Birmingham was heaving with thousands of hopefuls trying to make it through to this year Britain’s Got Talent show.Judges Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, David Walliams and Amanda Holden arrived at the ICC on Friday 17th February, where they were greeted by hundreds of fans and a host of paparazzi.
General Manger of the ICC, Paul Rutherford, was on duty on the day, he said: “Hosting an event like Britain’s Got Talent is a great opportunity for the ICC to showcase the diversity and flexibility we can offer event organisers.
“There is an immense amount of planning and preparation that goes on behind the scenes to successfully hold an event like the auditions. From the event manager to the security guards, everyone worked extremely hard to make sure the event passed without any problems.
Paul added: “Hall one is the perfect setting for this type of event because it has a tiered auditorium and a stage, to create a theatre environment. Additionally, as the ICC is the only convention centre in the UK with an indoor public mall with cafes, shops and a great art gallery, there’s plenty of space and things to do.
“We have also hosted The X Factor in the past; I’m beginning to think Mr Cowell loves the venue as much as we do!”
The auditions opened on Friday 17th February and closed on Sunday 19th. The auditions were not open to the general public; the acts auditioning had already been previously selected by the Britain’s Got Talent production team.
