Well Met Conferencing secures Bi-annual conference for Mountain Rescue

Well Met Conferencing has secured the 2012 bi-annual conference for Mountain Rescue England & Wales which will see over 300 delegates descend on the Headingley Campus from the 7th-9th September. The high profile conference has been secured by Dr Mark Robinson, one of the many Ambassadors for the University.

Dr Mark Robinson, Director of Carnegie Great Outdoors, said: “I am delighted that Mountain Rescue England and Wales have chosen Leeds Met as the venue for their 2012 conference. They are a registered charity reliant on around 3500 volunteers who are prepared to respond to incidents 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, whatever the weather. They provide an invaluable service to everyone who enjoys the great outdoors and this conference will see the coming together of nine regional mountain rescue organisations and their partners to share knowledge, best practice and future developments.”

As well as using lecture theatres and classrooms in the Ghandi Hall, delegates will also enjoy the accommodation at Carnegie Village which is a pioneering centre that offers high-specification, all year round residential conference facilities including 479 residential bedrooms, shared living space and impressive views over the Leeds Met sports grounds.

Kate Pitcher, Business Development Manager for Well Met Conferencing, said: “Securing such a unique event is a fantastic example of how we work with our Ambassadors to build strong relationships with potential clients. Our University department, Carnegie Great Outdoors, has been working with the Mountain Rescue charity for a number of months and it is due to this long-term relationship that we will be hosting the event in two years time. Our Ambassadors are a key ingredient to the work of Well Met Conferencing as they have firsthand experience of our venues and facilities.”

Mountain Rescue England and Wales, whose Patron is the recently married Prince William Duke of Cambridge, is the national coordinating body for mountain rescue in England and Wales.
