Etherlive PoP in IT infrastructure at Clapham Common
Lambeth Council has partnered with Venue IT, a division of Etherlive, to install permanent connectivity at Clapham Common.Venue IT's Point of Presence (PoP) will enable Lambeth Council, owners of Clapham Common, to offer event customer access to high quality cabled and wireless internet. When not used to its full capacity for live events, Lambeth Council is offering ‘commoners’ a free Wi-Fi hotspot. Venue IT's engineers will monitor the PoP remotely from its central London hub.
The 220 acre space is recognised for hosting live events and in August will be the location for South West Four with a line up including Chase and Status and Zane Lowe.
Venue IT has a growing network of outdoor sites in the UK where high speed bandwidth and permanent outdoor connectivity is available for live events.
Etherlive is one of Europe’s leading IT companies, specialising in the events sector. From corporate events and festivals to large scale exhibitions, the company has also been appointed by the Greater London Authority to provide a ground-breaking communications solution at the London Media Centre during the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Tom McInerney, director of Etherlive said, “Clapham Common is a highly flexible space for live events and we are pleased to be able to invest in the site. Organisers and everyday people are fixed on using the internet as part of their daily lives and it is refreshing to see a council take such a forward thinking approach to its local residents.”
