Amadeus strengthens its partnership with STA Travel with a long-term global agreement

Amadeus, a leading travel technology partner and transaction processor for the global travel and tourism industry, and STA Travel, a global travel organisation specialising in student and youth travel, announced a long-term extension to their content agreement. The geographic scope of the deal includes the U.K., Germany, NewZealand, Australia, the U.S., Austria, Switzerland, South Africa, Sweden, Japan, Singapore and Thailand amongst others.

Under this new agreement, over 29 STA Travel markets will use the Amadeus distribution system to access travel content throughout Amadeus´ global partner network. Today, STA Travel already enjoys the benefits of Amadeus’ technology solutions including and not limited to the Amadeus e-Travel Management online booking tool for business travellers. With the needs of this specific customer in mind, Amadeus had also developed a custom built e-ticketing solution for STA Travel.

Peter Liney, CEO of STA Travel commented: “We are pleased to extend this successful partnership as we continue to access some of the best content in the market. With its global reach, and local content, Amadeus is a partner that understands our challenges and is well equipped to support us in our business objectives. Going forward, we will look to collaborate further with Amadeus to be able to adapt to the ever changing needs of our customers.”

Stephane Durand, Director, Online & Leisure at Amadeus said: “Over the last few years Amadeus has worked closely with travel agencies to identify missed opportunities that could make travel agencies more profitable. Our long-standing relationship with STA Travel is a testimonial of our efforts to help our customers drive efficiencies and maximise opportunities within their own operations, and to fuel our development and innovation efforts, confirming Amadeus as the partner of choice for the travel agency of the future.¨
