60% of delegates make meaningful connections via Grip’s AI powered matchmaking engine

Tim Groot, CEO and Co-Founder of Grip, the world’s first AI event networking solution
Over 60% of delegates who used an app by Grip, the company which created the world’s first artificial intelligence (AI) event networking solution, made lasting connections at events that they would not otherwise have discovered, a recent survey reveals.

Grip, which uses clever social and behavioural data to connect people at events, surveyed over 165 delegates who used the smart event networking app to obtain the first user feedback since the company launched in April 2015. The survey revealed that 55% of users of Grip’s intuitive networking app would recommend it to their fellow event-goers whilst attending recent events such as Tech BBQ, Founders Forum London, The Europas and Women of the Future.

The survey also revealed that the average number of users anonymously swiping “skip” to refuse a match more than halved over the course of an event as Grip’s smart matchmaking solution quickly learned the preferences and attributes users liked most about a potential match.

Grip’s CEO and Co-Founder Tim Groot comments: “We are delighted with the results of our first series of in-app surveys and how it demonstrates that Grip takes the stress and hard work out of networking at events. Users can simply swipe right on the app’s interface to express an interest in meeting a fellow event attendee. If the other party swipes right too, this results in Grip’s signature ‘handshake’ and contact details are shared.

“Event attendees using Grip are realising that networking at an event is no longer a lottery where finding the right business contacts to meet is left to chance. With Grip, people make connections with those they can collaborate with and often go on to do business together.”

Nicholas Oliver, founder of people.io, who used the app at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, attended by over 15,000 people, comments: "Networking at events as big as Cannes Lions can be a nightmare, especially as a startup. Grip connected me with some great people including the CEO of a major global agency group, who we're now working with on a significant partnership for people.io"

Daria Danilina, Business Operations Manager at virtual surgery app company Touch Surgery adds: “Grip makes networking really easy and helps make the most out of attending conferences. The time you save by talking to the right people who are also interested in meeting you is better spent making those connections stronger. I made more than 10 connections at Slush last year and used Grip as an event organiser for London Business School’s GenerationE event, where it was a great success.”

Grip, which recently won the prestigious #IMEXpitch competition at IMEX America, plans to undertake further user feedback surveys in 2017 at upcoming events where the app will be featured.

“2017 will be a very exciting year for us, with more people than ever before using Grip to connect and collaborate with the right people and we have lots of ideas on how to enhance the capabilities of our ground-breaking business matchmaking engine,” concludes Tim.
