VisitYork4Meetings, the business tourism brand of Make It York, will be providing the Yorkshire experience at The Meetings Show 2016. Held at the Olympia, London on 14 – 16 June the bespoke set up aims to transport visitors away from the capital to the historic walled city of York. VisitYork4Meetings have worked in conjunction with ConferenceLeeds, the official conference desk for the city, to design a charming tea room which will provide delegates with a taste of Yorkshire throughout the three-day event.

The innovative stand will be a sensory feast which transports delegates to the Yorkshire Dales with Yorkshire Tea being served along with a selection of sweet treats from York’s only 5 star hotel, The Grand Hotel & Spa, York. From 4pm on Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15, visitors will be able to join VisitYork4Meetings for a complimentary glass of wine or Yorkshire brewed beer, as they host an informal networking event on their stand.

The Yorkshire experience is further enhanced with the addition of Yorkshire-themed prize giveaways. Lucky winners will have the chance to experience Afternoon Tea on the beautifully restored railway carriage, Countess of York, at the National Railway Museum or Afternoon Tea at The Grand. The iconic Bettys Café Tea Rooms have kindly provided two prize giveaways; an Afternoon Tea voucher for two and one of their exclusive Belmont Gift Boxes, worth £100. Filled with a fabulous selection of hand-picked Bettys classics made in Yorkshire, it’s certainly worth a visit to the stand for the chance to win. To top it all off, VisitYork4Meetings will ensure that you arrive in style, as all prizes include free First-class rail travel courtesy of Virgin Trains East Coast.

Laura Freer, Business Tourism Manager at Make it York, commented: ‘As the premier event for the UK inbound and outbound meetings industry, we knew that The Meetings Show 2016 was the perfect opportunity for us to be creative with our offering and really stand out from the crowd. We’re hoping to recreate a quintessential York experience, with a relaxed environment and local products, plus a chance to win fantastic prizes from our partners. With new projects on the horizon in York, which will increase our offerings further, we’re keen to invite event organisers and meeting planners to our stand (H303) and plan their next meeting in York!’

With over 16,000 meetings, conferences and events taking place in York every year, business tourism generated £140.7 million in income for the city in 2014 which represented 25% of total visitor spend.  There are currently new streams of investment and new developments underway at a number of venues that will expand York’s conference and meetings portfolio as well as offering new historic and unusual venues. Projects include the addition of Hotel Indigo, a new boutique hotel and developments at The Grand Hotel & Spa, The Royal York Hotel, York Art Gallery and The Bar Convent Living Heritage Centre.
