The premier annual event for the UK’s inbound, outbound and domestic meetings industry will feature more than 550 exhibitors from over 50 countries, combining a large exhibition, networking opportunities and unrivalled professional education.

Representing Yorkshire, the two conference offices for York and Leeds will work collaboratively on stand H303 to promote the ample opportunities available in the North to conference organisers. Working with local partners including The Grand Hotel & Spa, York Conferences, The National Railway Museum, Virgin Trains, first direct arena, Dine at The Mansion, thestudioLeeds and Lakeside Conferences, VisitYork4Meetings and ConferenceLeeds will be providing a multi-sensory experience for visitors to experience a little taste of Yorkshire.

Visitors will have the opportunity to choose from over 80 free-to-attend educational sessions, which will be delivered by industry experts, along with a chance to meet them at specialist ‘destination showcases’.

Laura Freer, Business Tourism Manager at Make it York, said: ‘We’re really excited about The Meetings Show this year as we are bringing a slice of Yorkshire to London. Working alongside ConferenceLeeds has enabled us to go bigger and better with our stand design, and our partners are testament to the quality of services we can provide in York and Leeds. Situated within two hours of London, York is a brilliant option for delegates looking outside of the capital for their meetings and events. A city rich in history, with world class attractions on our doorstep and state of the art conferencing facilities, we’re confident that we’ll make a big impression at the show this year.’

John Duncan, Business Development Manager at ConferenceLeeds, commented: ‘We’re very proud to be exhibiting alongside three of our great venues at this year’s Meetings Show, including Leeds’ newest independent event venue, thestudioleeds, our largest conference venue, the first direct arena and Dine at the Mansion, which offers a cutting edge food offering for corporate events. We work collaboratively with our venues on a day-to-day basis in order to offer a bespoke and tailored service to conference organisers. During this year’s show we really wanted to showcase that collaboration and give visitors to our stand a glimpse of what this city has to offer.’

With over 16,000 meetings, conferences and events taking place in York every year, business tourism generated £140.7 million in income for the city in 2014 which represented 25% of total visitor spend.  There are currently new streams of investment and new developments underway at a number of venues that will expand York’s conference and meetings portfolio as well as offering new historic and unusual venues. Projects include the addition of Hotel Indigo, a new boutique hotel and developments at The Grand Hotel & Spa, The Royal York Hotel, York Art Gallery and The Bar Convent Living Heritage Centre.
