If you like to feel at home when you travel, then The Grosvenor House Hotel in Dubai might be just right for you – especially if home to you means living in luxury. With its exquisite décor, luxurious atmosphere and staff dressed in pin-striped morning suits, it is not only named to suit the British, but is run by a British General Manager, Pam Wilby.
‘We want them to feel that that they are enjoying the best available service and the highest quality facilities,’ says Pam.

As part of Starwood’s Luxury Collection, the hotel’s facilities are unrivalled, having access to its neighbouring sister property, The Royal Méridien Hotel Beach Resort & Spa and its lvish pools, gardens and private beach.
Pam is in fact a Complex General Manager’, using the term that applies to those who have responsibility for more than one property in the same location. Grosvenor House, with its 45-storey tower and 422 rooms, suites and apartment suites, was the first to appear on the new Dubai Marina development. It offers views over the Arabian Gulf.
Now, the news is that Grosvenor House is to have a second tower in the latter half of 2011. To be called The Residence, it will have 106 rooms and suites, 216 apartments and five condominiums. The Executive style hotel rooms are on the 5th to 11th floors, all with great views, with guests having access to the Executive Lounge that occupies half of the 5th floor.
The new tower will house four new f&b outlets, bringing Grosvenor House and there will be exclusive dining, dancing and drinking at the Embassy Club Dubai that will occupy the top three floors.
Pam reports that obviously there was a downturn in business from 2008, but business is currently very much on the up, especially for corporate events, business travel and incentive groups.

‘We are close to the business district, within minutes of the two top golf clubs, the Jebel Ali Free Zone and the hundreds of shopping outlets at the Mall of the Emirates. That is all in addition to the superb leisure facilities on site, including the Royal Méridien’s beach and pools. The 12 restaurants of Grosvenor House and the 14 at the sister hotel provide every cuisine anyone could desire, from British, to Mediterranean, to Turkish and Indian specialities.
Grosvenor House has a separate entrance to its conference centre where six meeting rooms are available, with capacities up to 400 delegates.
‘We always make sure’, says Pam, ‘that we have on hand everything that the sophisticated corporate guests may require – and beyond.'
