As well as Carnegie Village, Leeds Met’s AA 3-star high-specification residential development providing year-round accommodation, people looking for the great value accommodation that is associated with YHA will now be able to use the University’s Kirkstall Brewery and Opal venues during the summer period.
YHA has shed its former reputation of bunk beds and 1960s dormitories by investing over £19.5m in recent years, as part of the charity’s capital investment programme, in to its network of Youth Hostels in England and Wales. The network of 150+ Youth Hostels provides great value, modern and comfortable accommodation, with many hostels now boasting private en-suite rooms, restaurants and bars. Some even have honeymoon suites!
Leeds Met’s accommodation comes under the YHA’s Enterprise Scheme which seeks out high-quality independent properties which YHA promotes through third-party sites such as Hostel World internationally.
Kate Davis, Business Development Manager at Well Met Conferencing, said:
“For Well Met Conferencing to be the only provider of YHA accommodation in the city is a great coup for the University and we are looking forward to targeting a new area of customers, both here and abroad, as a result of the scheme. Carnegie Village, Kirkstall Brewery and Opal are all modern facilities which are guaranteed to add to YHA’s growing portfolio of ‘enterprise’ venues.
“The new initiative couldn’t come at a better time in regards to forthcoming developments in the city which are guaranteed to appeal to both YHA members and non members alike. Both the Leeds Arena and Trinity Leeds - a luxury shopping facility – will open in early 2013 giving visitors the perfect opportunity to make use of our low cost, high-quality accommodation.
“Leeds Met don’t provide stereotypical student accommodation, we offer high-specification facilities in fantastic locations that are on a par with some of the UK’s finest hotels.”
John McGrath, Head of Enterprise and Procurement at YHA (England and Wales) said: “We’re delighted to welcome Well Met Conferencing to YHA’s portfolio of great value, well located accommodation providers in England and Wales. Its Carnegie Village, Kirkstall Brewery and Opal accommodation are modern and comfortable for groups and individuals who want to experience the sights, shopping and nightlife of Leeds. An added benefit of being part of the University is that they are well-known for serving thousands of students on a daily basis; therefore there are excellent public transport links. As with all our accommodation you do not have to be a YHA member in order to book and stay.”
Leeds Metropolitan University’s YHA accommodation starts from just £24 per person per night and aims to provide easy access to a range of sport and music events as well as Leeds’ vibrant city centre and as a gateway to exploring the Yorkshire Dales.
