i2i Events Group’s portfolio of leading energy events, RWM (Resource Efficiency & Waste Management Solutions, organised in partnership with CIWM), The Energy Event and The Renewables Event, took place at the NEC Birmingham from 11th – 13th September and closed to rave reviews from exhibitors and visitors alike.

Record numbers attend RWM
The success of RWM 2012 has confirmed its status as one of Europe’s premier events dedicated to the resource efficiency and waste management sector. This year the show saw a 20% increase in floor space with over 700 exhibitors offering a comprehensive range of products and solutions, and welcomed more than 13,000 visitors, representing 72 countries, a 6% increase on last year. The ‘free to attend’ conference programme was the most comprehensive yet with over 60 hours of content from some 150 leading industry experts and high profile speakers. This year also saw the launch of RWM Connect, the new social community for networking and knowledge sharing, which enables individuals to search and connect with like-minded peers, engage in topical discussions and seek opinion and insight from thought leaders even after the show.

Visitors to The Energy Event up 66%
The Energy Event, the UK’s leading exhibition and conference focussing on energy management, efficiency and procurement, saw an impressive 66% rise in visitor numbers to over 6,000 (following an 89% rise last year), confirming the growing demand for expert knowledge and access to innovative solutions and market leading suppliers. As well as the opportunity to meet over 150 exhibitors in the exhibition area, the extensive conference programme also proved to be a huge attraction, offering intelligent insight, key analysis, case studies and debate from over 70 major industry commentators and thought leaders.

Inaugural Renewables Event welcomes over 7,000 visitors
The Renewables Event was held for the first time this year and welcomed over 7,000 visitors, many of whom crossed over from the neighbouring events. It is this crossover of visitors for whom the event was created and the strategic co-location of the new show with the two established events meant that both new and returning visitors were able to benefit from the UK’s very first onsite energy generation exhibition and conference. With over 100 leading manufacturers, suppliers and service providers at the event, visitors were able to meet experts covering all aspects regarding the introduction of renewable energy into a business. The supporting conference featured 25 key industry speakers and was dominated by case studies of existing projects allowing attendees to gain valuable insight from actual scenarios as well as key practical and policy advice.

Alison Jackson, Divisional Director at i2i Events Group commented, “We are delighted with the success of RWM, The Energy Event and The Renewables Event. The co-location of these three leading events highlights the clear link between energy, sustainability and waste management as a vital consideration for all businesses and makes them must-attend-events for all professionals with responsibility for these areas.”

Speakers across the 3 events included Particle Physicist at Manchester University, Brian Cox; the writer, communicator and strategist, Alastair Campbell; James Woudhuysen, Professor of Forecasting & Innovation at De Montfort University; The Rt Hon. John Gummer, Lord Deben; Philip Lowe, Director General Energy, European Commission; Angela Knight, Chief Executive Energy UK and Rhian Kelly, Head of Climate Change CBI as well as a host of senior executives from a wide range of organisations including Marks and Spencer, Coca Cola, John Lewis, BP, National Grid, British Gas Business, BSkyB, Thames Water, E-on and many more.
