Summer guaranteed at the NEC in 2013

The NEC, Birmingham, has secured a three-year contract with the Leisure and Outdoor Furniture Association (LOFA), for its Summer and Outdoor Living Exhibition (SOLEX), which will take place at the NEC from July 2013.

The show will move from its former home of five years, the Telford International Centre, where it enjoyed considerable success, making it the premier garden Furniture and Barbecue show in the UK, necessitating the exhibition to need more space to accommodate its continued growth, and the NEC, with its central location, capacity and transport links, has been selected.

Organised by LOFA, the show will bring together its association members to exhibit including leading manufacturers of garden furniture, barbeques, gazebos, parasols, outdoor lighting and play equipment.

Set to attract the right high quality trade visitors from the industry such as garden centres, multiples buyers, landscape architects and designers, the show will run for three days from 8th – 10th July 2013.

Phil Gibbs, Secretary, Leisure and Outdoor Furniture Association said, “Whilst we’ve been really happy in Telford, we are committed to growing our exhibition and need additional capacity to accommodate expansion. The space and flexibility offered by the NEC, combined with its central location and great transport links are perfect for our needs and we look forward to growing the show with them over the next three years.”

Another feature of the exhibition will be the use of the outside space to showcase barbeque equipment, which is always a popular feature amongst visitors.

Chris Hartley, Business Development Director, the NEC, said; “Having worked directly with LOFA for some time, we’re thrilled to be part its impressive growth aspirations by hosting SOLEX at the NEC over the next three years.

“It’s fantastic to welcome another trade association show to the NEC, demonstrating our ability to cater for multiple audiences, under one roof - we are fast becoming the venue of choice for trade association shows looking to take advantage of our space, flexibility and location, to grow their events. We look forward to welcoming LOFA and its members next July.”
