The service is aimed at UK couples wishing to marry abroad, and is designed to ease the planning of a wedding in Cyprus. It was created, due to the rising popularity amongst Brits of the Akamas Region in West Cyprus - itself home to the birthplace of the goddess of love - Aphrodite.
Akamas Weddings provides the necessary support and guidance for those brides and grooms wishing to tie the knot in the Akamas Region – covering all legal formalities. The service will also cater for married couples wanting to renew their vows.
Martin Maynard – Founder of Akamas Villas states: “Over the last year, we have experienced a massive surge in holiday and honeymoon booking enquiries, for our villas in the Akamas Peninsula. Year on year, for the high season months of July and August, our bookings have increased by over 100%, and our villa portfolio currently has a 95% occupancy rate.
“Together with the affordability factor of the region – with luxury villa rentals from just £875 a week for 2012/13, and the growing trend of UK couples getting hitched overseas - one in five according to recent MINTEL research, we decided to establish Akamas Weddings,” says Maynard.
Akamas Weddings will primarily work with three luxury wedding venues in the Akamas Region. These are the five-star Anassa and Ayii Anargyri Spa hotels, and five-bedroom Villa Charno – a property located in the foothills of the Ayia Marina, enjoying beautiful Mediterranean views, and a double infinity swimming pool.
Maynard adds: “It felt natural for us to launch into the wedding market, as the venues we are working with offer fantastic backdrops to get married – with either spectacular Mediterranean or Mountain views. Furthermore, the region carries an air of romance – perhaps inherited from Aphrodite herself.”
For those couples wanting an alternative location, or something a little more unique, Akamas Weddings can also plan ceremonies in picturesque open air settings, town halls, churches, traditional Cypriot Houses, on the beach or on yachts.
Couples are able to select the level of planning they require. Services offered include booking the registrar, ceremony and reception venues, and organising all documentation. Akamas Weddings can also recommend and book local wedding photographers, make-up artists, hair dressers, florists, cake suppliers, videographers, entertainment and transportation. Wedding planning packages are priced from just 375 Euros.
For couples able to book a trip to the region before the wedding, Akamas Weddings will also offer a free bespoke ‘wedding property tour’. The guided tour will showcase a selection of villas available for wedding guest accommodation, chosen specifically according to a couple’s requirements. All villas are located in the same area, around Chrysochou Bay – which is about 45 minutes’ drive from Paphos.
