The first showcase, to be held tomorrow at The Corinthian Club in Glasgow, will welcome event organisers to learn more about the city at an exclusive networking lunch. Here, representatives from some of Manchester’s finest conference venues will be looking to spread the message that Manchester is an outstanding location to hold a conference, and the city where great minds meet.
A second showcase will be held at Ikon Gallery in Birmingham on Thursday 13 October.
The delegation, led by Marketing Manchester, will consist of representatives from Bolton Whites Hotel and Events, Emirates Old Trafford, Hilton Manchester Deansgate, The Lowry Hotel, Macdonald Manchester Hotel and Spa, Manchester Conference Centre & the Pendulum Hotel, Marriott Manchester Victoria & Albert Hotel, Mercure Manchester Piccadilly Hotel, Museum of Science and Industry, The Place Aparthotel, Radisson Blu Edwardian Free Trade Hall, Transpennine Express, The University of Manchester and University of Salford.
Nick Brooks-Sykes, director of tourism at Marketing Manchester said “Manchester’s conferencing offer has gone from strength to strength in recent years. We’ve had some significant international conferences choosing the city, an array of new hotel openings, and a continuing property boom offering up new bars, restaurants and events spaces all across the region.
“Then of course this year marked the launch of direct Beijing-Manchester flights, the first direct scheduled flight from mainland China to anywhere in the UK outside of London, with upcoming routes to San Francisco, Boston and Houston to look forward to. “Now we’re heading to Glasgow and Birmingham to spread the message that these growing connections make Manchester an ideal location to host an event with international influence.
“This, combined with a proven track record of staging outstanding conferences and events, a selection of stunning venues and a variety of leisure options, makes Manchester a world-class conference destination.”
