Hire Convention 2016 announces speaker line up for day one

With just two months until the Hire Convention 2016 opens its doors, organiser Hire Association Europe (HAE) and Event Hire Association (EHA) has announced the speaker line-up for day one. Taking place at Holywell Park, Loughborough from September 21st – 22nd the conference programme will focus on this year’s theme: Smarter – Safer – Stronger.

Taking to the floor first is Pierre Boels jr., European operations CEO of Boels Rental, delivering a keynote session on the state of the European rental market, particularly the Netherlands. Boels Rentals is one of the most reputable hire companies in Europe when it comes to the rental of machinery, tools, units and catering and events equipment. Pierre Boels jr. has headed up the business since 1996. The company has experienced unprecedented growth with 20 subsidiaries, more than 350 branches and 2250 DIY outlets in 10 countries throughout Europe.

Chris Steel, specialist inspector (noise & vibration) for the Health and Safety Executive will follow with a presentation on ‘Creating a Safer Workplace – Dust and Noise Free.’ As the effects of airborne dust and exposure to noise become more and more apparent it is vital that businesses take steps to reduce the risk of any occupational diseases. As exposure to both is prevalent within the hire sector this session will deliver benchmarks for good practise.

Returning for a second year, James Sutton, of Raleigh International, will give delegates an insight into how to become a responsible global business. The company prides itself on connecting communities who want to improve lives and their environment with passionate people from around the world who want to take positive action. They believe that young people are the generation that has the energy, optimism and creativity to make change happen. Their ethos is perfectly in-tune with the HAE EHA’s who believe that investing in young people is the future of the hire industry, initiatives like their Future Hirers underline this.

In addition, Sat Dhaiwal, CEO of leading hire company A-Plant will share his inspirational journey of apprentice to CEO with delegates. Discovering how Sat went from a 16 year old trainee to running a company that has an annual turnover of £200 million pound plus, is bound to attract plenty of interest.

Ann Harrison, marketing manager for HAE EHA comments: “We’re really pleased with how the programme is shaping up for this year’s Hire Convention. It really builds on the foundations that we laid in 2015 which is something that our members were keen for us to do. Popular sessions return with a renewed focus that adhere to this year’s theme, whilst new ones have been added to the mix to ensure that we are topical. Both elements will assist us in delivering the maximum number of delegates.”
