Sky supports all levels of cycling, across all disciplines from grassroots through to elite, namely Team Sky. By supporting Springboard’s Team Velo Challenge Sky will be a natural complement to what is fast becoming the hospitality industry’s leading cycle challenge.

Alison Dolan, Deputy Managing Director for Sky Business said: “We’re delighted to be supporting this fantastic challenge, which helps to raise vital funds for the charity to help positively change the lives of many in the hospitality industry. We are looking forward to participating and sharing in what is sure to be a highly motivating experience for all involved.”

Participants will be raising funds to develop and support Springboard’s youth programmes and even more people into wonderful careers in hospitality, leisure and tourism. By registering a team, each cyclist commits to raising a minimum of £500. Participants will be joining an enriching event that finishes in the French capital with a Champagne reception.

Angela Vickers, CEO Apex Hotels said: “Being involved with The Springboard Charity’s annual Team Velo Challenge is a great opportunity for us to demonstrate our commitment to the wider hospitality, leisure and tourism industry. Not only do Springboard support us through their pipeline of talent recruitment, but they are also helping people across the UK onto great career paths. The Velo Challenge helps raise funds for this to continue and offers an experience that enriches those involved.”

Chris Mitchell, MD, The Genuine Dining Co. said: “Team Velo Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for me and my staff to get together in unfamiliar surrounds and challenging situations, but above all else we have an absolute blast!”

Anne Pierce, Springboard’s CEO said: “I am punishing myself yet again by doing Team Velo… and in my saner moments I ask myself why? Each time the reasons for doing it drown out the protestations of my ageing body - it’s great fun, it’s an awesome sense of achievement and it’s competitive, in a kind of light-hearted but deadly serious kind of way! You meet some great people, you see some great sights, but most of all it’s a way of raising funds to make a difference to people’s lives – and that’s always worth the effort!”
