MEET National to feature MPI Certificate Programs

MEET National, which will take place Sept. 7-8, 2016, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C., is partnering with Meeting Professionals International (MPI) to provide education classes and certificate programs designed to offer tangible applications to planners. .

The three certificate programs delivered by the MPI Academy are:
Going Local: Optimize Your Meeting with Local Flavor
This program incorporates best-practice case studies that help planners, venues and destinations leverage a sense of place and create more effective meetings and events.

Meeting Essentials2 Fast Track
This program provides event professionals with three to five years of experience with the knowledge to understand the business purpose of their roles and improve their meetings or meeting portfolios.

Healthcare Meeting Compliance Certificate (HMCC)
This intensive, four-hour educational and training course offers healthcare meeting compliance stakeholders with the knowledge and experience they need to successfully navigate the increasingly complex pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device regulatory environment.

The Meeting Essentials2 and HMCC courses will take place in advance of the opening of MEET National on Sept. 6, while Going Local is scheduled for Sept. 8, during the general event. All three programs are offered for a fee, and attendees must be registered to attend MEET National in order to participate. Additional information regarding the MPI certificate courses may be found here.

Included in the general attendance package at no charge, MPI will offer planners a series of interactive session formats such as Speed Talks, a Knowledge Café, Campfires and a Fishbowl that focus on technology, meeting design and trends.

“The MPI Academy is thrilled to be part of MEET National,” said Stephanie Arehart, senior director of professional development for MPI. “Our certificate courses offer baseline to high-level knowledge in a number of areas that are critical to meeting planning. In addition, we will present education sessions where attendees will learn not only from the content of the sessions, but from the design of the sessions as well.”

Organized by Questex Travel Group, publishers of International Meetings Review, MEET National is expected to draw nearly 1,000 attendees, bringing together meeting and event planning professionals with 120 leading suppliers representing hotels, resorts, meeting venues, convention and visitors bureaus, technology, event services and promotional and marketing products.

Kirk Lewis, Questex’s meetings group director, expects this newly revitalized event to be a game-changer in the marketplace by offering one-on-one meetings, an open show floor and the pinnacle in first-class education.

"Our partnership with MPI is a strategic one in that the stellar education they will bring to MEET National is just a stepping stone for our portfolio of events,” Lewis said. “We are looking forward to a long and prosperous relationship to benefit the industry at all our MICE events.”

Attendees can also participate at no charge in other sessions with topics that run the gamut of industry themes and topics, including risk management, revenue management, venue selection, negotiation, content creation, speaker recruitment and a strong emphasis on technology. The event will close with a town hall meeting, which will feature several industry leaders including Roger Dow, president and CEO of the U.S. Travel Association.

MEET National will offer an innovative conference open to meeting professionals and exhibitors alike, with unlimited networking opportunities including 12-minute, pre-scheduled, one-on-one appointments, an open expo floor and an exclusive charity reception. MEET National is organized by Questex Travel Group in partnership with Meeting Professionals International and HSMAI.
