The congress was a great success, and the organizers just announced that the EMS congress will take place in the Danish capital next year too.

Defibrillators, CPR and an unofficial European Championship for ambulance staff were just some highlights of the program when 1,100 doctors, paramedics, nurses and experts from around the world gathered in Copenhagen this week.

They attended the Congress of The European Emergency Medical Services Congress, EMS2016, to acquire expert knowledge, test new technology, share experiences across national borders and strengthen European cooperation in the prehospital and emergency medical field.

The congress organizers has just announced, that the congress, which is the first of its kind in Europe, will come back to Copenhagen next year.

Freddy Lippert, director of the Capital Region Prehospital Services - Emergency response and Chair of the Danish host committee, said: "We initiated this congress to meet a rising demand for international cooperation and to provide knowledge sharing in this work field. The aim was also, to establish an official European network, which meets annually and identifying challenges and opportunities to mark out directions and formulate strategies – something we truly succeeded in this week.

"One of the reasons to why we staged the congress in Copenhagen is that Copenhagen has shown excellent results in the resuscitation area in recent years. As a result, we have decided to continue where we left off today and invite the Congress back to Copenhagen next year. "

It is the Capital Region Prehospital Services – Emergency response, Tryg Foundation, Laerdal Foundation and Wonderful Copenhagen, who took the initiative to arrange the European Emergency Medical Services Congress.

The plan is, that EMS, after being held in Copenhagen again in 2017, is to be held in different European cities, for then again to returning to Copenhagen.

HRH Crown Princess, the Minister of Health and the Regional President helped to open EMS2016, which took place at the Tivoli Hotel & Congress Center. The convention and event agency Crone & Co., was hired to assist with concept development and logistics.
