Served from the 23 July – 31 August 2016, the afternoon tea includes an exclusive trip on the Coca-Cola London Eye which has its very own Queen Elizabeth Coronation capsule.
Visitors can take in a number of iconic royal views from the London Eye, including Buckingham Palace, the Elizabeth Tower (which houses Big Ben), the Queen Elizabeth Hall on Southbank Centre and the Golden Jubilee Bridge.
Offering something for everyone, the afternoon tea menu includes ‘Elizabeth’ themed classic treats such as The Balmoral sandwich – featuring fresh Scottish smoked salmon; The Mustique Cake – a passion fruit and coconut macaroon with mango ganache; and The Peggy Cake – a rich apple honey teacake which represents her Majesty’s first pony ‘Peggy’, who was partial to a crisp apple.
Guests can finish off their sumptuous tea experience with a slice of The Mountbatten Cake – a delicious Battenberg cake, recognising ‘Philip Mountbatten’, Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.
Designed and created by caterers Food by Dish, adults will also be able to purchase Prosecco and Champagne for an extra special touch, while the child friendly menu contains access to an interactive sweet station to build their own ‘Queen of desserts’.
Gareth McTiffin, Marketing and Events Manager for Merlin Events London, comments: “Following the success of our events including the LATES series at Shrek’s Adventure, we wanted to continue to evolve our offering particularly for daytime events. Afternoon tea is an iconic British custom and we wanted to celebrate such a significant year for The Queen. Guests can enjoy many of London’s iconic landmarks as they experience the Coca-Cola London Eye, one of the must-do things during a visit to the capital.”
The Elizabeth Afternoon Tea at Riverside Rooms experience includes a 90-minute afternoon tea and a 30-minute rotation on the Coca-Cola London Eye.
