Well Met brings the X Factor to Leeds

Rose Bowl
Aspiring singers of Leeds have the opportunity to show off their talent on 29th April 2016 when the X Factor auditions come to Leeds Beckett University. As part of a nationwide tour, which is visiting over 40 towns and cities, the X Factor team will be welcoming singers to perform their choice of song at the Rose Bowl from 12pm – 4pm, where they will be hosted by Well Met, the university’s conferencing service.

Leeds is known for its proud independent music scene and the Leeds leg of the X Factor tour will be unique in its endeavour to engage with the students and wider community of the city. All aspiring singers are welcome to the mobile auditions, and hopefuls are asked to prepare two song choices, giving each individual a chance to show off their breadth of talent.

The mobile auditions were introduced to the process in 2012 and have since been a popular way for budding artists to get involved in locations where the larger open X Factor audition tour doesn’t reach. Solo singers or groups aged 16+ can apply by simply turning up on the day, however acts are advised to arrive early as auditions are on a first come, first served basis.

If a budding hopeful impresses The X Factor team with their vocals, they will then be in with a chance of singing in front of The X Factor judges, when the judges’ auditions take place in summer.

Clare Vidler, Conference Manager for Well Met, Leeds Beckett University’s conferencing office commented: “As the Rose Bowl is situated in the centre of Leeds, it is perfectly placed to hold the X Factor auditions and we’re excited to be a part of one of the nation’s most talked about TV shows. We’re looking forward to welcoming students and residents of Leeds to come along and impress the X Factor team with some winning Leeds-based talent!”

Simon Cowell, X Factor judge, commented: “We're excited to start auditions again this year for The X Factor. If you think you have got what it takes then why don't you apply? And remember, one audition could change your life."

Now into its 13th series, the show has uncovered some outstanding talent across the years. To date, One Direction have sold 55 million records worldwide, Olly Murs has achieved success with four multi-platinum albums and to date, Little Mix have sold 3.3 million albums globally.
