Jacob Collier and Andreya Triana first artists lined-up to performThe organisers of Greenwich Music Time have confirmed that Grammy-winning jazz pianist and singer Jamie Cullum will curate a series of concerts for next summer’s event. Already announced as headliner for the closing night of the concert series, which runs from July 5th – 10th, Cullum will handpick a selection of some the most hotly-tipped young artists on the music scene - with a particular emphasis on those recently championed on his BBC Radio 2 show - who will perform in front of a 5000-strong audience at the world heritage-listed Old Royal Naval College.
The concerts will take place prior to Cullum’s set on the 10th and the first two artists lined-up to perform are Jacob Collier and Andreya Triana. One of the breakout stars of 2015, Triana was hailed by The Independent as “every inch a star”, and the phenomenally talented multi-instrumentalist Jacob Collier, whose YouTube videos have been watched by millions, was recently described by his mentor Quincy Jones as “one of my favourite young artists on the planet. Absolutely mind-blowing.”
Jamie Cullum: “I’m pleased to have been given the opportunity to continue the work we do at Radio 2 in championing incredible up-and-coming talent and there are no two artists more worthy of this support than Jacob Collier and Andreya Triana. Both of them completely blew me away when I first heard them - sonically contrasting but equally brilliant and unique.”
Greenwich Music Time takes place from July 5th – 10th 2016.
