Titanic Belfast looks forward to 2016 after serving up successful BBC Sports Personality of the Year Red Carpet Event

The hosting of BBC Sports Personality of the Year 2015 rounded of a successful run of events for Titanic Belfast, since opening in 2012, it is now looking forward to a strong 2016.
The world’s largest Titanic visitor attraction was selected to host the red carpet event ahead of BBC Sports Personality of the Year, which took place for the first time in Northern Ireland at the SSE Arena on Sunday 20th December.

Titanic Belfast’s Chief Executive, Tim Husbands MBE, commented, “Over the last decade, over a billion pounds has been spent to transform Belfast into a vibrant event city – we are proud to be part of this movement. We have proven over the last three years that we are capable of hosting signature events such as BBC Sports Personality of the Year’s red carpet event, which certainly shone a spotlight on Belfast as it aired to millions watching on BBC One, on a regular basis.”

“We have hosted an array of signature events such as MTV Sounds, World Police and Fire Games, the World Championship Boxing, the Giro d’Italia Big Start and BBC Proms in the Park to serving bespoke meals for Her Majesty The Queen, Taoiseach Enda Kenny, TITANIC director James Cameron and former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton – demonstrating again and again that Northern Ireland is open for business on the local, national and international stage. With plenty of events in the pipeline for the new year, we are very much looking forward to a successful 2016.”

In addition to signature events, Titanic Belfast has hosted over 1,000 events, ranging from meetings, exhibitions, gala dinners and conferences since opening in 2012. The flexible suites located across the fifth and sixth floor of Titanic Belfast, which can cater for between 50 – 1,000 guests, can now be utilised with the Slipways, SS Nomadic and the 6,000 square metre Titanic Exhibition Centre. 

Titanic Belfast, which has been described by the Prime Minister as ‘absolutely brilliant’ continues to go from strength to strength and has now welcomed over 2.5 million visitors from over 145 countries.
