As 2015 draws to a close, The Science Museum Group, which includes the Science Museum in South Kensington and the National Railway Museum in York, is celebrating a year of key achievements across its sites.
In a year which has seen the Science Museum unveil a new approved suppliers list and welcome a host of new recruits to the events team, Jodie Guilford, Event Sales Manager at the Science Museum, has revealed a projected year on year growth of 11% at the South Kensington museum. In addition to this, the Science Museum has seen a 6% growth in events compared to 2014, hosting 170 events this year.

In York, projected year on year growth at the National Railway Museum, which recently picked up a York Press Business Award for Best Tourism & Hospitality Business of the Year, is expected to hit 15%. The Christmas period has been particularly successful for the venue with 4,383 covers served, a 25% increase on 2014.

Neil Ormondroyd, Group Events Sales Manager at the Science Museum Group, says: “In a challenging economic climate, the Science Museum Group is proud to have made several key achievements this year. It is fantastic to see both the Science Museum and National Railway Museum predicted to see year on year growth of 11% and 15% respectively. This year we have worked hard to develop new, exciting DDR packages at the museums, as well as expanding our events team and announcing a new approved supplier list at the Science Museum, to ensure we continue to provide the high quality service The Science Museum Group is known for.

“Looking ahead to next year, our pipeline of events looks very promising and we are delighted to have our healthy DDR in place for January and February to help delegates start the New Year off in good health.”
