Tales of space race entertains guests at Yorkshire Bank’s Business WeekBusiness leaders in Manchester were transported into space during a talk from the former president of Virgin Galactic, as part of Yorkshire Bank’s Business Week.
Will Whitehorn, who worked with the Virgin Group for 24 years, visited Emirates Old Trafford, Lancashire County Club last week (Thursday 12 November 2015) to speak to 120 bank customers, business owners and professionals about innovation and growth.
Sharing his experience as part of the exciting Virgin Galactic story and discussing the ways in which Virgin implemented innovation across its different businesses, he discussed how to drive business innovation and growth through the right combination of people and technology.
As a search-and-rescue helicopter crewman in the North Sea, Will once had to pluck Richard Branson out of danger and soon went on to becoming Richard Branson’s right-hand man and eventually president of Virgin Galactic, where he steered the project from concept to reality.
Will Whitehorn said: “It was great to be in Manchester to speak at Yorkshire Bank’s Business Week. Being able to share my own experience of business growth and innovation to such a receptive audience has been fantastic. I hope it gave an insight into how we used innovation to grow Virgin.”
Sean Williams, Head of Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private in Manchester, said: “Will’s talk was both entertaining and inspiring; perfect for our audience of ambitious business people looking to harness the opportunities that innovation can bring. The feedback we’ve received from guests so far has been excellent.”
Michele Somers, Head of Sales at Emirates Old Trafford, added: “We were delighted to welcome Will who provided a fascinating and insightful speech to our region’s business leaders as part of Yorkshire Bank’s Business Week. The AJ Bell Players and Media Centre at Emirates Old Trafford offers an ideal setting for business delegates, whilst overlooking the world famous cricket pitch.”
