Situated just an hour’s drive from Geneva Airport, the French medieval village retains the charm of its stonemasonry past, whilst offering visitors the chance to combine a relaxing break with adrenalin-filled ski activities.
This winter, Samoëns welcomes the unveiling of two brand new properties, unique dance and wellness activities, and a completely upgraded ice rink and entertainment centre that will keep everyone entertained. The much-loved Winegrower’s Week and Wellness Weeks also make a return for 2016, giving visitors an opportunity to sample the many flavours of French hospitality and cuisine.
Two Brand New Properties Opening This Winter Season
This ski season sees the opening of Villa Rose, a privately-owned boutique hotel that offers visitors the flexibility of booking individual rooms or the choice of booking all six bedrooms to have exclusive access use of the property. The charming Layssia Residence also opens its doors on 19 December 2015. Surrounded by the Le Criou, Le Môle and Le Tuet mountains, these apartments offer beautiful views of the region.
Unwind With Wellness Activities
When it comes to taking a break from the snow, Samoëns is proud of its extensive wellness offering, which has now been further developed thanks to two new experiences. ‘Danse presence’ is a unique form of dance allowing the body to listen to its inner self, and with no formal direction participants are free to move as their body desires. Additionally, Taoist belly massage strives to heighten wellness and happiness through the massage of internal organs to rid the body of negative energy. Travellers looking to experience the Taoist belly massage experience will be able to do so in the comfort of the therapists’ home.
Ice Rink Opening November 2015
A brand new ice rink, designed to allow skaters to gaze out onto the surrounding mountains whilst they are on the rink, is set to open in November 2015. The new River Bow entertainment centre will also feature six bowling lanes, a games room, and a bar and restaurant for a lively après-ski evening.
WineGrowers Week and Wellness Weeks
Samoëns will be welcoming visitors to its sixth annual Winegrowers Week between 14 and 18 January 2016. Winegrowers Week brings 20 winegrowers to Samoëns from all over France to share the passion of their work, with visitors able to sample the fine wines on offer. Each night throughout the week, after-ski workshops are organised with wine tasting and wine pairing, allowing visitors to find out more about each winegrower and the wine on offer.
Les Semaines Bien-Vivre, which translates into ‘Wellness Weeks,’ are three annually themed weeks hosted in the village, that celebrate both wellness and gastronomy. They offer visitors special after-ski workshops focused on wine tasting, Savoie cheese tasting, and learning how to prepare traditional desserts. Hosted by chef Thierry Froissard, a former world pastry champion, this winter season’s, workshops are taking place from 2-9 January 2016, 12-19 March 2016 and 9-16 April 2016.
