Global art marketplace Artfinder chooses Yorkshire for first regional UK art tech event

Artfinder, the global marketplace for original art is to hold its first regional UK event in Yorkshire in November.

Taking place from 20 – 22 November at HIVE, a new art fair at Harrogate International Centre, Artfinder’s pop-up exhibition will combine work from Yorkshire artists, exhibited traditionally, alongside six LG touch screens, which will be mounted on exhibition walls. The screens allow visitors to create and customize their own exhibitions from Artfinder’s choice of over 150,000 pieces of art.

Visitors to the exhibition will be able to email themselves their curated exhibitions to save for later, and their exhibitions will also be available for other visitors to view and take inspiration from  over the course of the weekend.

HIVE is organised by the team behind Cambridge Art Fair. Presented in association with Artfinder, the weekend will include exhibitions from emerging artists, a programme of workshops, talks and artist meet-up events, as well as a range of family activities.  The event will be truly international with artists and galleries exhibiting from the Far East and Europe as well as Yorkshire artists including printmaker Helen Peyton and Sledmere-based artist Stef Mitchell, York-based David Cooper and Sheffield-born Mark Haywood. International exhibitors include Hanoi Art House, who specialise in contemporary art from leading Vietnamese artists and Galas Art Gallery, Bulgaria, Ukranian artist Olena Kosenko,

HIVE will be Artfinder’s first regional event in the UK, with events planned for Bristol, Glasgow and Manchester in 2016.

Jonas Almgren, CEO of Artfinder comments: “As the global online platform for art, Artfinder supports 6,000 artists in 97 countries. Yorkshire is a thriving hub for our artists, following London as one of our most populated areas, so we can’t wait to share the amazing work of our Yorkshire artists in Yorkshire! We’re delighted to be working with the Cambridge Art Fair team to make HIVE happen for the first time.”
