Chile hosts The ATTA Adventure Travel World Summit

Over 700 delegates from 60 countries, including tour operators, press and destination representatives will be attending workshops, taking part in commercial exchanges and joining tours to experience all the adventure that Chile has to offer.

The Adventure Travel World Summit is taking place in Puerto Varas from October 5-9 2015. Great touristic attractions, natural beauties and an extreme geography are some of the reasons why Chile was chosen by the Adventure Travel Trade Association, ATTA, as the venue for their summit.  Puerto Varas is less than a two hour flight away from Santiago and is an ideal destination to enjoy kayaking, fishing, mountain climbing, trekking and skiing.

Chile promotes sustainable tourism and works hard to preserve its natural areas including 10 UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.  Both the public and private sectors are promoting the development of tourism in a sustainable way, by preserving nature and helping local communities to make a living within their environment.  Last year the Government launched the “Sello S” certification for sustainable accommodation including hotels, hostels, cabins etc which is recognised by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).  In an effort to develop high standards of safety, it is a mandatory requirement for companies to register all their adventure services.

The theme for this year’s summit is “adventure revolution” or “Viva la revolucion de la aventura!”  Over the 5 day event, passionate travel professionals will be sharing their stories and advice on taking chances, embracing the unknown, being creative and making hard decisions as well as the role that the adventure community at large has in leading the way toward sustainable tourism development and meaningful customer experiences.

“We are very proud to host the Adventure Travel World Summit in Chile.  Chile has grown as a destination for adventure tourism, always developing in a responsible and sustainable manner.  Chile has immense potential in the adventure sector, thanks to its people, its beautiful landscapes, national parks and the high quality of its adventure operators.”
